My Style Essentials Video

Meet The Guys Behind Topo Designs + Weekend Links
Denver's Topo Designs have feature on the blog several times now, I'm yet to own any of their products but someday soon I hope to be slinging one of their bags over my shoulder. I count myself as a big follower of the brand but I know very little its actual creators. My pal Matthew, over in Denver sent me a link to this interview with Topo's founders. The mystery is no longer, nice one!

Buck Mason - American Classics
This week marks the launch of a new venture between to friends; two midwestern guys obsessed with classic design, local production and most importantly, quality products. Buck Mason is a new American menswear brand, co-founded by Erik Schnakenberg and Sasha Koehn, who both have fond memories from their childhood's, hoping to grow up and be just like their dads. The uniform of work jackets, flannel shirts, Levi's and Red Wing boots spurred on their desire to create simple, everyday garments which will stand up all year around.
Similar to The Chapar, Buck Mason has have made the shopping bit easy. As well as buying items from their collection individually they have put together Packages, which include six essential pieces to easily fit into your wardrobe. For example The Starter Kit includes basic tees, henleys, oxford shirts and denim, all the stuff that guys want to wear. The denim itself is a 14 oz Selvedge slim fit, made on a 1940's shuttle loom and constructed in LA. All of their products are made in the US, using locally sourced fabrics, however prices have been kept impressively affordable.

Stumptown by Danner
This is the coolest thing I've heard in ages. In 2013 best buds, James and Jordan embarked on one heck of a journey from British Columbia all the way down to Patagonia, on their custom-built bikes. Both fellas featured in Danner's new video, Stumptown which was created to promote their new range of boots for AW13. Watching this video just makes me what to move to American just that little bit more, I just need to find a way. Amongst other projects the guys have been documenting their travels on West America. Enjoy.

How to Make The Best Cup of Coffee Ever
Apparently last Sunday was International Coffee Day but surely that's every day for a lot of us, so with that in mind here's how to make the best cup of coffee EVER! I just need all the gadgets to go with it and I'm set. Created by Bespoke Post for their Box of Awesome.

Universal Works x John Smedley Knitwear
Universal Works x John Smedley knitwear collection.
This Autumn knitwear connoisseurs John Smedley have hooked up with Universal Works to produce a small 8-piece collection, taking inspiration from JS's extensive archive. Both JS + UW are based in The Midlands, UK and their first collection brings together both company's love and passion for craft, quality and meticulous detail. Each garment shows off the vision of Universal Works's founder David Keyte, as well as the knowledge and history of the John Smedley brand.
The collection features henleys, crew necks and cardigans, each style available in two colour options. I've been getting into henleys of late, they're easy to stick over a white t-shirt or under a shirt for an extra bit of warmth (especially handy for cyclists). They're a practical item but UW have turned a once-undergarment into a modern piece of knitwear. Both the henley and crew neck feature a slightly extended back hem and striped cuffs, which nicely merges traditional sportswear and knitwear together. It's all pretty detailed stuff and as you would imagine each piece is made from top notch merino wool, sourced from New Zealand and constructed in Derbyshire.

Lee Cooper Presents - Kevin Soar
Profile of East London based writer and vintage clothing collector, Kevin Soar by Lee Cooper for The Makers campaign. Lee Cooper have put together several really cool shorts, profiling up-and-coming creatives based in the London area, each with their own personal touch. The one above really caught my attention as it features the place where my Grandad used to play footy every week!

Jack Spade Jam Shorts
I freaking LOVE Jack Spade, for many, many reasons. They're a brand I discovered while I was researching for a project at uni and have featured several times on the blog thereafter. For me they can do no wrong. They've even got a Lending Library scheme at their London store.

Uniqlo UT Collection - Keith Haring

A couple of weeks ago I was invited to get involved with Uniqlo's new UT T-shirt Collection, featuring designs by Keith Haring and Jean-Michel Basquiat.
I was offered one of the t-shirts from the new UT Collection, so I went for this orange Keith Haring number featuring one of this iconic designs on the front. I tested out their new video app, UT Camera and shot 3 short clips wearing my Keith Haring t-shirt around some of my favourite artwork and installations in my local area. It was a refreshing change to make these super easy videos loops and a nice way of sharing on social media rather than just posting images. Plus the results were pretty entertaining!
Locations - All 3 locations I chose can be found in my hometown of Blackpool. The Comedy Carpet is a huge space filled with famous quotes and sayings by comedians from around the globe, designed by Gordon Young. The second piece can be found just behind the Winter Gardens, I know little about this piece but I do know it's really stunning. And finally, the biggest disco ball in Europe can be found on the South Promenade and looks pretty spectacular in the dark with the nearby lights reflecting off it.
As well as the launch of their new app, Uniqlo are running a competition to win 2 x VIP tickets to Lovebox festival. All you have to do is download the Uniqlo UT Camera app and get involved. Bottle Cap Blues
I don't really share videos that much but heck, I love beer. If you're anything like me after watching this video you will want to try it yourself. A word of warning though, if you screw it up it makes a whole load of mess. So don't try it at home, do what I did and try it at someone else's. Who'd have thought you can only a bottle of beer with a Ipod or even you arm?

The Hill-Side & Co. Short Videos
Today I wanted to share with you some amazing 10 second videos by The Hill-Side & Co. The Brooklyn, New York based small accessories connoisseur usually concentrate on ties, pocket squares, scarfs and smaller good but they have recently extended their range to clothing, hats, bags and quite excitingly, furniture.
It's amazing what you can do in such a short period of time, I cannot think of a better way to spend 10 seconds.
I don't tend to post videos much but please do watch them, trust me you won't regret it!

The Swinging 60s
Whilst doing my weekly browse of blogs I came across this video of 1960s London, over at Mess Your Hair Up and I thought I must share it with you. The short video is all about the "vibe" and the "hip and happening" shops, clubs and hangouts in the 1960s, where it was all going on!
I'd heard of a few of the shops, like Granny Takes A Trip and World's End but I've never had a guided tour. So this is definitely worth a watch if you're interested in 60s stuff or just for a bit of fun. The key to the 60s is "don't take it too seriously", so watch and you will be inspired, if not by the clothes you will be by the commentators voice. Why does no one take like that anymore?!
