Everything Is Rubbish + Weekend Links

Everything Is Rubbish is a response to consumerism, our waste and its ability to become a bi-product. The trio behind the project trawled the UK coastline for plastic waste, sorted through and manufactured a consumer product. The result is an instantly recognisable consumer product, created from our own consumption. This video shows how the trainers was made.

It's been another busy week for us, 90% wedding related to 10% birthday celebrations; definitely need a bit of downtime this weekend! Coca-Cola 2nd Lives | Bottles with Alternative Uses

Coca-Cola continues its crusade to think more responsibly about the lasting impact of their products with the next installment of their "Open Happiness" campaign. Entitled "2nd Lives", this campaign shares alternative ways to reuse their iconic bottle, giving it a whole new function, and whole new life after its primary goal.

We know plastic bottles aren't good, but we may as well make the most of them until we find the alternative. I'm up for a water gun fight this summer.

Uniqlo UT Collection - Keith Haring

A couple of weeks ago I was invited to get involved with Uniqlo's new UT T-shirt Collection, featuring designs by Keith Haring and Jean-Michel Basquiat.

I was offered one of the t-shirts from the new UT Collection, so I went for this orange Keith Haring number featuring one of this iconic designs on the front. I tested out their new video app, UT Camera and shot 3 short clips wearing my Keith Haring t-shirt around some of my favourite artwork and installations in my local area. It was a refreshing change to make these super easy videos loops and a nice way of sharing on social media rather than just posting images. Plus the results were pretty entertaining!

Locations - All 3 locations I chose can be found in my hometown of Blackpool. The Comedy Carpet is a huge space filled with famous quotes and sayings by comedians from around the globe, designed by Gordon Young. The second piece can be found just behind the Winter Gardens, I know little about this piece but I do know it's really stunning. And finally, the biggest disco ball in Europe can be found on the South Promenade and looks pretty spectacular in the dark with the nearby lights reflecting off it.

As well as the launch of their new app, Uniqlo are running a competition to win 2 x VIP tickets to Lovebox festival. Skateboarding in the 1960s

Skateboarding is one of those things that I wish I'd learnt when I had the chance, when I was youngster. I'd love nothing more than to cruise around the streets on a set of wheels, but I've gone past the age of where it's socially acceptable for me to be practicing outside the front of my house. I just can't be doing that at 26, slipping around while the 16 year old nearly pros wizz past wouldn't be a great look. 

These skateboarding young'uns from 1960s New York make me very envious. In all serious though I think they're great, from what seems like such a carefree and exciting time. The innocence of being a kid and mucking about is something I'm sure we all miss. These really must have been an exciting time, when a new craze hits when you're a kid it's all you can think about, I'm looking at your Pogs, Rollerblades and Tamagotchi!
