Patchwork watch by Avi-8 x John Jarrett - coming soon

Inspired by the uniforms of a welder, carpenter and engineer, Jigsaw's new SS17 capsule collection, Raw State, takes an unexpected look into a world inspired utility. I have been a long-time appreciator of traditional workwear, but the idea of stepping out of my house looking like I've dressed from a particular decade doesn't appeal to me. The Raw State collection backs up that notion creating a super wearable 21-piece collection fit for the present.

"With the Raw State collection showing predominant signs of inspiration from traditional manual labour and utility, we wanted to give this a subtle nod with our own direction"

The restricted palette of the collection took the lead, so we played upon the off whites, greys, faded blacks, and the mixture of blues from Jigsaw’s main collection – heading out to explore the Bloomsbury and Mayfair areas of Central London.

Our idea was to have a little fun with the utility elements of Raw State, so we set out to find a selection of complementing locations which mirrored each garment’s original inspiration; rough textures, concrete architecture, stark lines, signs of construction and unfinished details.

True, with London's constant want to build and improve it wasn't too tricky to find signs of construction sites, new builds and disrepair, but this worked perfectly to what we had in mind. Using the city's unfinished environment gives you a deeper connection to the streets which we'd usually consider just to be a means of getting from A to B.

Are you aware of your town's progression? I'd love to hear your thoughts on how we styled this collection.

Urbanears' Shop By Colour

Just a quick one today. Really fab product styling and use of colour by headphone specialists Urbanears. Headphone and music equipment don't usually register on my radar as it's generally not by thing but these beautifully styled shots for their "shop by colour" section stood out like a very colourful sore thumb. If have have time you should check out their neat videos showing you how each product works

Enjoy your weekend folk, grab some sun and down time while you can.

Buckets & Spades x Balibaris Selection

From left to right - Steven Spieldberg t shirt/Nouveau Droit indigo selvage slim jeans/La Cie du Kraft A5 notepad/Madras navy gingham shirt/Pijama fluo Ipad case/New Balance 420 "Road to London" sneaks/dark green socks

I was recently asked by Parisian retailer Balibaris to to pick out some of my favourite products from their store, and here's the result. Balibaris started out in late 2009 selling ties and other small accessories, a couple of years on and the chaps have branched out into their own range of clothing which is all produced in France and a few other countries around Europe (apart from the Japanese denim). They also stock brands like Han Kjobenhavn, Opening Ceremony and Sanders as well as having some pretty cool, low-key collaborations going on. The online store has been a big hit, so much so that they will be opening their first boutique in Rue de Marseille, Paris this coming September.

The fluo Ipad case sticks out like a sore thumb I know. Every time I go shopping these days I end up looking at the same old stuff so I'm making an extra effort to challenge my normal tastes at the moment. I reckon this would make a pretty cool additional to my daily carry-arounds. Which is your favourite item from the selection?

Thanks to Balibaris for this opportunity and their photography.

Hixsept S/S 2012

You can usually guarantee wet and windy weather on a British Bank Holiday, well today hasn't let us down. I woke up at 8:30 a.m. to the sun cracking through my curtains, by the time I went down for breakfast it was raining. I haven't even thought about getting out the shorts yet this year (to be honest I don't really ever think it gets hot enough for shorts over hear, if you risk it by the evening it's freezing and you're left looking daft with goosepimpled legs), but I need something sun related to cheer me up.

Hopefully Hixsept's S/S '12 offerings will perk the long weekend up a bit. The collection is made up of  simple wearable pieces in soft palette, it's nothing groundbreaking but works really well together for me. There's a couple of more interestin additions including a cracking weather appropriate single breasted beige mac with detachable hood, long sleeved yellow button-down, contrast waistband trousers and shorts and riding chambray riding cap.

The whole collection has a nice feel to it, something that I'm very much down with, including the George Harrison inspired model choice, no?

For more information on the brand go to the Hixsept site.

Barbershop Photoshoot

Here's a few unedited pictures from a recently photo shoot at a barber shop, for a uni project. We took over 400 images on the day so it was a tough task picking out our favourites. The about ones are a few that I am really happy with. The theme of the shoot was. The aim behind the project was to promote a local business(in Preston, where I go to uni) and display 4 images at an exhibition in January.

Which is your favourite, if any? Any feedback is really welcome as it could help with my final research sketchbook.

In other news I was recently featured in an article, "Stylish Men on Twitter". The article is very complimentary and I have no idea why the chose me. Give it a read if you have a mo.

MAC - Face Art

I stumbled across this image by MAC whilst shopping with Hollie in manchester last night, it was used as a backdrop in the concession shop in Manchester. I couldn't ignore this images and I had to go on the website straight away and save it. Hollie later told me that they send out images of this caliber on their weekly emails. Now I've never really been into make-up so much really but I find them inspiring, especially if I have to do any styling and some point. They could come in handy.
