Ardour Brand x Ebbets Field Flannel Stadium Cap

Batter up. Big time ballers Ebbets recently produced this rather excellent Stadium Cap for British label Ardour Brand. Ebbets Field Flannels is the top dog in this market and their custom makes-ups have been on the rise over the last couple of years, Ardour's choice of colour and letter placement is as good as it gets. The cap itself uses the traditional a 6-panel design, is made from 100% wool, fitted with a adjustable leather strap and comes in Ardour's teams colours of aztec brown and cream. Sna*back fans need not apply.

My fascination with American sportwear started at an early age when my Grandad's sister, the wonderfully name Betty Lemon, would send us over Philadelphi Flyers hockey jerseys and all sorts of cool baseball caps every year. I must have had 10 different teams hanging on my bedroom wall but there wasn't any favouritism, I really just liked the designs. Over the past couple of years I've been getting into hats again (maybe it's down to loosing my hair but it has its advantages) and I've started a collection of repro designs. Along with caps I'm forever searching ebay for jerseys, jackets and other bits of memorabilia. Another advantage of the Ardour x Ebbets Stadium cap you don't have to profess be a play-by-play expert on the history of your team.

Hixsept S/S 2012

You can usually guarantee wet and windy weather on a British Bank Holiday, well today hasn't let us down. I woke up at 8:30 a.m. to the sun cracking through my curtains, by the time I went down for breakfast it was raining. I haven't even thought about getting out the shorts yet this year (to be honest I don't really ever think it gets hot enough for shorts over hear, if you risk it by the evening it's freezing and you're left looking daft with goosepimpled legs), but I need something sun related to cheer me up.

Hopefully Hixsept's S/S '12 offerings will perk the long weekend up a bit. The collection is made up of  simple wearable pieces in soft palette, it's nothing groundbreaking but works really well together for me. There's a couple of more interestin additions including a cracking weather appropriate single breasted beige mac with detachable hood, long sleeved yellow button-down, contrast waistband trousers and shorts and riding chambray riding cap.

The whole collection has a nice feel to it, something that I'm very much down with, including the George Harrison inspired model choice, no?

Lately I have been taking extra noticed to where things are made. To know this bit of extra information reassures me to some extent and instantly puts thoughts into my mind about who might have made them, the type of factory they were conceived in and what type of machinery might have been involved. I'm one of those people that always checks labels before buying stuff in shops, checking out the fabric is a big thing for me, but now I might be adding another one to the list. I don't think it's  going to stop me from buying something but to know a little bit more about what you are spending you money on makes it more satisfying, in my opinion.

I'm going to split this post up into a 2-parter bumper edition so this post doesn't turn too picture heavy. I've got some more interesting stuff to share.

This Week's Essentials - Wooly Hats

Anything in wool this week. It's not loads cold up north anymore but it's nice to feel wrapped up a little. My mum always banged on about wearing something on my head when it gets cold, as I have quite short hair, so this one is for her! It seems like this could be a nice new feature, I will try and do it every Friday I think. Sound good?

In other news I had a really good charity shop find this week, a green/brown/orange Harris Tweed 3-button blazer for £3. Perfect fit, luck really was on my side. Will show soon.
