Photography in GTA5 by Curtis McNally

I'm one of those people that becomes totally consumed by computer games, hence why I rarely play them. Skyrim was the last game I got sucked in to. I reckon me + Hollie clocked up a good 300 hours on that thing. Same thing would happen with GTA5, although lucky for my own sanity I've only played it around friend's houses. My current flavour of the month is Super Mario World on the SNES, but for very different reasons.

Photographer Curtis McNally received GTA5 this Christmas. Instead of going down the usually route of mowing through drug dealers and blind-siding prospective-governors at rallies he decided to explore the virtual world without violence. Using the character's in-game smartphone, McNally took to the streets, using the camera as he would in the real world. By looking at a game like GTA from a different perspective it really does give you a new appreciation for what the developers have created. A rather beautiful blur between real and virtual life.

“When your not aimlessly running around the map killing people and hijacking cars, you start to appreciate the magnificent design of the game. From watching sunsets to wondering the back streets you become lost in a rich and vibrant virtual surrounding
that is a surreal treat to photograph”

5 Years of Goodhood

The Goodhood Store of London recently celebrated 5 years in business with an exclusive range of products in collaboration with some of their favourite brands and people. The range has been created with their specifically to the store's tastes. I love a bit of Goodhood and here's a few things that took my fancy. My favoruite piece is probably the Norse Projects polka dot shop jacket, tasty stuff. There's tons more ace stuff in the collection, check the whole range out here.

Enjoy what's left of your weekend dudes, and remember to support your local.

Skateboarding in the 1960s

Skateboarding is one of those things that I wish I'd learnt when I had the chance, when I was youngster. I'd love nothing more than to cruise around the streets on a set of wheels, but I've gone past the age of where it's socially acceptable for me to be practicing outside the front of my house. I just can't be doing that at 26, slipping around while the 16 year old nearly pros wizz past wouldn't be a great look.

These skateboarding young'uns from 1960s New York make me very envious. In all serious though I think they're great, from what seems like such a carefree and exciting time. The innocence of being a kid and mucking about is something I'm sure we all miss. These really must have been an exciting time, when a new craze hits when you're a kid it's all you can think about, I'm looking at your Pogs, Rollerblades and Tamagotchi!

Which big crazes do you remember (and secretly what to take up again!) with found memories?

Feeling Grey

I'm feeling a bit grey today but not in a sad way. My hard drive is full of images and I've been having a quick scan through them this morning, it seems like the majority and black, white or grey. So I thought I'd share a few thing you all. Any excuse to post a picture of Lara Stone. Therefore my mood is a grey one.

What colour suits your mood at the moment?

Shussshhh

Whilst not having a telly or the internet you must find other ways to amuse yourself. One of my main ways to pass the time and also to pick up some great sartorial tips is to consume myself in silent movies. I've been a fan of silent movies of the slapstick variety since I was a young lad when my Granddad would sit us all down on a Sunday and make us watch Laurel & Hardy and The 3 Stooges. I still enjoy the daft and somewhat ridiculous plots in many of the 10/15 minute shorts but it has only hit me much later in life how impeccably dressed they were. For men that were throwing themselves around, in and out of windows, through hedges and repeatedly getting hit over the head with 4x4 wooden planks, they don't half manage to keep it together!

Charlie Chaplin is considered to be a genius, not just for the way he puts 100% into his roles or for his natural way to amuse but for the way he directed, scripted and produced and performed all his own films, in a similar way to Buster Keaton. Many people don't seem to realise that they were playing characters, which goes to show how talented they really were.
