Six furniture designers + one game of musical chairs. A simple idea, created by Dutch design studio Lernert & Sander for COS' AW16 party collection. Sometimes brands struggle to bring a real sense personality into their campaigns, or go the total opposite direction by creating something too in-your-face – COS has found a suitable middle-ground which fits their understated, yet playful characteristics perfectly.

It been yonks since Hollie last appeared on here. Her job has taken over, and her spare time is now spent either in pyjamas, tweaking our wedding plans, or working on her new fitness routine (first time ever!). But it was nice to get her in front on the camera again recently, as her style is ever-changing - and this place seems like the best way to document it. I am trying to convince her to post more daily style stuff on Instagram, so we'll see...cos just look at those bright white Docs!

It will be our 10th anniversary in a just few weeks time, and also Buckets & Spades' 8th birthday. March is a month of milestones, so we''ll be heading up to Edinburgh (see our mini-city guide here) for a few wee days to celebrate; by sharing a few beers, hanging out in museums, and enjoying the time alone.

A Week In Words

From what I remember, last week was a busy one. I've finally gone back to my job at Topshop but I have been moved down to Topman, where I am now the new Sunday Supervisor. For all that didn't know, I took 4 months leave to go and work in London(but I came home earlier than expected as the job didn't work out, lets just say we weren't on the same wavelength).

On Thursday evening I attended the launch of the new COS concession in Selfridges, Manchester. I got in invite through my other job at Manchester Fashion Network and as it turned out I ended up being the only press person there. The event was to launch the new shop and to preview their A/W collection. As I was the only press there I was given to right to take as many photos as I liked(I spoke to one of COS' PR team and they said they usually don't let people take images, they took exception with me!). I took Hollie as my +1. The concession is only womenswear currently but I personally spoke to COS' Creative Director and told her to sort a menswear bit out.

On the way to the event we got snapped by the multi-talented illustrator/design Kate Mcleish, who is also a friend;

Wearing - J+ Uniqlo Khaki Blazer, vintage turquoise t-shirt, Topman loose chinos, Clarks desert boots.

I'm pretty much wearing that blazer every day, it's linen and unlined so quite thin and perfect for the lead up to summer. It was such a good buy at £39.99. For anyone that may have been wondering me and Hollie have been together for just over 4 years now, still going strong. The only thing that I notice much if I look back at photos of us 4 years ago is that now I have much less hair, I'm trying to grow a beard(early stages of course) to make up for it!

New Found Treasures Part 4

It's been a while since my last "New Found Treasures" post, but we're slowly getting to the last of them now. For all that aren't too sure what I'm harping on about, I'm showing everything I bought within the time I moved down to London(I wasn't there ages though). So this time, it's the backpack.


I picked this little number up in French Connection in Brighton. Not a shop I go in loads but my friend Nic saw something in the window, as the sale was on. I managed to pick this up for £13.50, which I consider a massive bargain as I know there are similar ones around these days for up too £130(COS for example). I realise it's bursting open in this picture but I was carrying a lot that day.


Anyone else got a backpack thing going on?

Feeling Grey

I'm feeling a bit grey today but not in a sad way. My hard drive is full of images and I've been having a quick scan through them this morning, it seems like the majority and black, white or grey. So I thought I'd share a few thing you all. Any excuse to post a picture of Lara Stone. Therefore my mood is a grey one.

I Love COS

Since visiting COS in London it is now my new favourite shop, I wish I could have got my hands on the hooded cape jacket (3rd look) but it isn't out for a few weeks and is limited edition so they say. A/W 09 is looking great for COS. I didn't end up buying anything but just wait till next time.

Look of the Week & Zara a/w 2009/10

This weeks choice is from The Sophisticat, for teaming American Apparel fleece pants with bright green as green Acne lace-ups. I can't believe how cool the fleece pants look worn smartly, I've tried these on before (for jogging purposes only) and I don't remember them fitting so slim. I may have to give them another try after seeing this.

Above are some images from the Zara A/W 09/10 lookbook. Zara is a place I often visit but but have never bought anything from. Hollie manages to get tones of cool stuff in there and so do girls I work with, I think it's a place where is something looks a abit different or intriguing I should just grab it and try it on while I'm there. Really like the colour palette going on in the images above. Shades of greys, pale pinks, browns and nudes have been in abundance since the recession, looks like it's set to continue with high street shops such as Zara, COS, H&M Trend, Banana Republic going "mute" for the Winter.
