Workspace Inspiration & How We Blog

Some of you may have noticed that I'm posting more regularly than earlier in the year, this has been a conscious decision. I've decided to dedicate more time to my blog, it's one of the most rewarding creative outlets and we always hear "do more of the things you love", well, blogging is one of those loves. Meeting like-minded people through the blogging community has always been one of the more fulfilling aspects, be that online or in person. I think most of you would agree?

Searching for interesting and inspiring things is one of my main daily tasks, it's essentially what my blog is about. Not sticking to one subject has possibly not done the growth of my blog any favours but from the start I've always maintained Buckets & Spades is a place where I would simply share things I like (and my own personal style mixed in). Turns out I like quite a whole bunch of stuff and sharing it with you guys is where the main buzz comes from.

As I'm putting more time into the blog I've started to think more about how I can turn  my workspace in to a more enjoyable place to be. This leads me to workspace inspiration and once again I've gone Pin crazy. My space is pretty limited, spending time on sites like Freunde von Freunden Workspaces and The Selby makes me long for huge rooms which can be filled with all sorts of collected goods; but my situation couldn't be further from the truth. Money is another issue, checking  secret sales sites like HushHush have started to become a mild obsession. As I mentioned in my previous post, For The Home, I tend to look for inspiration in real living spaces rather than a catalogue. For instance  OneHundredSixtyEight is a constant source of inspiration, especially for something living in a small flat. Over the next few weeks I'll hopefully 

For most running a blog is a hobby but I'm interested to hear how you guys balance blogging with day-to-day jobs? I'd love to hear if you have a dedicated workspace or even if you're doing it from the comport of your sofa. Enjoy your weekend.

Grenson x Togs + Clogs G-Lab Archie

 

Today I'm very pleased to share with you the Grenson x Togs + Clogs G-Lab collaboration. You may remember a few weeks back I posted about my visit to the Grenson Shoe Factory, well the main reason for our visit down to Northampton was to watch the filming of Hypebeast's Process: Crafting The Togs + Clogs x Grenson film. Featured in the video above is the G-Lab Archie Brogue with electric blue welt, limited to 12 pairs.

Above is a concise look into how the shoes were produced. Documenting each process, from start to finish, showing just how many skilled hands it takes to create something pretty special indeed. Filmed by videographer Santiago Arbelaez and commentated by Grenson's Creative Director Tim Little. Vinylmation - Abstract Mickey Mouse

I've got a new mate on my desktop, he's got quite a confusing body. Along with our collection of Bearbricks we've now started adding Vinylmation toys into the mix. I picked up several in a Disney Factory Outlet while I was in Orlando recently.

Abstract Mickey Mouse is designed by graphic artist Eric Caszatt and is apart of the Urban Series 6. I'll be sharing the rest of them with you over the next couple of weeks. 

Does anybody else collection vinyl figures, or are we alone on this one?

Topo Designs Travel Bag

After a conversation with Ryan from Simple Threads (one of the best menswear blogs out there in my opinion) on Twitter regarding backpacks and why they make your top/shirt ride up when wearing them, he pointed me in the direction of Topo Designs. He highly regards their bags and swears they're the only brand he's come across that doesn't inadvertently make you show your boxers off to the world.

Above is Topo's signature Travel Bag in navy, red and yellow which is the perfect backpack for everyday use as much as it is for a big old adventure hiking up some mountain range. Their aim was to create something that could take a hammering from traveling and everyday life but also compact and lightweight enough to be classed as a carry-on. But that's not all, there's an added bonus; the Travel Bag has been cleverly designed so you can attach their Trip Pack onto the front (see last image). The unique hooking system allows both bags to be carried at once, with easy dissemble when needed. Perfect.

Build The I'mpossible by Jessica Alley

Really lovely student packaging design project by Jessica Alley, based on building and promoting awareness for sustainable education in Guatemala, Nicaragua and Laos. The "Pencils of Promise" were apart of a full campaign (click here to view), which was under the title Build The I'mpossible. A strong message communicated in a really simple and clever way.

What's everyone got planned for this weekend? I'm thinking bike rides, bbqs and plenty of good strong beer. You with me?
