All Parked Up - Our Print Shop

One thing that has kept me busy over the past few months is working on getting some prints ready. It's something I've thought about doing for a while, and after a fair few regular requests via Instagram, I finally got my act in gear and set up a super basic shop on Etsy.

 

Since July I'll shipped 50+ orders to all parts of the world; from Malibu, CA to a small coastal village in Australia. It seems folks are enjoying them in Scandinavia too, with the majority of international orders going to Denmark. Crazy.

 

Currently we have five prints available; three cars, One "Shopping Trollies in Orlando", and one of Hollie's It's a Love Story" print. We have plans to add a handful more in the run-up to Christmas. Each print has featured on my Instagram account at some point, so it's a lovely feeling to see them in other people's homes.

Illustrated Cities by Collab Belfast + Weekend Links

At the fear of making us long to travel more, Belfast based design studio Collaborate have created these delightful illustrations, featuring some of the world's most loved cities. I could definitely see these prints hanging in our house, maybe even of the places we haven't visited yet - something to aim for?

Close Ups @ Bank

I was recently approached by Bank to look through the current stock to pick out some of my favourite items.  I've chosen to look at some of their more colourful and interesting close ups rather than plain of product shots. Buying clothes online is a tricky business, we all know this. It's hard to get the fit right, to get a proper feel for the fabric and quality so nice and clear close ups do help a bunch.

Above are a few of my favorite pieces which are all currently online. The cycling stitched chambray shirt would be a great nod to Olympic gold medalist Wiggo and the K-Way windbreaker is possibly what every person in Britain could do with, a waterproof. Superga trainers have been a firm favourite of mine for a few years, Hollie pointed out the other day that I'd suit this colour. I'm now quite tempted as my grey ones are on their last legs.

Folk Printed Shirt

It's jam packed, you can't move for patterned shirts these days. I'm not complaining, since my days back at college there hasn't been many years gone by without a patterned shirt being somewhere in my wardrobe. The oldest one I remember (which I still have somewhere) was actually a turquoise patterned polo shirt. It was nicknamed the "roller coaster" top as it had a unusual zipped pocket placement, therefore your loose change would be ok if you went on a ride with a loop the loop.

For me this printed chambray printed shirt from Folk is one of the best out there. The block print shirt seems a bit garish at first but I think it has the potential to be quite wearable. The pattern is created by overlaying various shades of chambray cotton and also features a pebble shaped top pocket and extended back hem.

Each shirt is uniquely printed and patterns vary quire significantly, see the difference in these here and here compared to the one above. It's divide option though, at least three people I know have said they'd give it a wide birth, I am definitely in the yes camp. So is it a yes or no?

Fun Times This Way

Hand Pressed print by Thursday Press c/o Not On The High Street

This post has been a long time coming, NOTHS sent over this hand made letterpress print about a month ago now and I've had a tricky time trying to find a frame to fit. Let's call it a senior moment, in our house we've never had many picture frames (if we did it's me dressed up as a shepard in the Christmas nativity) so I didn't know about what sizes fit with what. A few weeks searching for a 9x12 frame then it hit me, it's blumming a4. Doy!

Anyway NOTHS offered my a voucher to spend in their store so I picked the Dept. of Messing About print, which is now sitting on top of a pile of books in my bedroom. I picked up the frame in a charity shop for 50p. The print is 1 of 21 and has been made with the old wooden letterpress blocks, the kind you always see at flea markets.
