Thoughts On Turning Thirty

Last week I turned 30 years old. I'm not sure how that's meant to feel; I don't feel young, yet I don't feel old. Physically I feel better than ever. Priorities have shifted since my uni days, and currently I feel like I'm on the way to arriving somewhere I imagined I'd be (I've just taken the long way around, but can't you really set a deadline for these things?), and long gone are the days when I even can be bothered staying up past 12:30am...

I now feel comfortable knowing that the path I took was a risk, but satisfied knowing that I made the right decision. I didn't go about making a list of things I wanted to achieve before I hit the big 3-Oh - rushing has never been my style. But not to worry, I know I'll tick them off one day.

Turning 30 has reaffirmed that I'm still on the right path. And if I carry on working hard at being the best person that I can be, pushing myself to learn new skills, and surrounding myself with good people, then I'll be able to achieve more than I could have ever imagined.

Thanks to Daniel Wellington for kindly sending me a birthday gift from their new Dapper Collection. You can use the code bucketsandspades to receive 15% off all DW orders.

Age is weird. I turn 34 next month and I certainly don't feel that old. I think I'm happier than I was in my 20s.

  4. Hope you had a fab birthday.

I am with hollie on this - age is weird. I stand around counting fingers when people ask me how old I am. Never was one to act my age or start ticking off things on a list against an age. :)

  7. Happy Birthday, good sir! Great mentality you have. Since I am still in my "uni days" as you call them, I've got a few years before 30 but when I hit it I hope that I'm in the same positive mindset as you.

  13. Happy belated birthday! I love the idea of not rushing things in life. Sometimes people feel the need to check off all of these accomplishments and experiences, but don't really think about the purpose of doing these things. Sounds like you're in a great place. Here's to many more lovely moments for you in the future! :)

  15. Cheers matey. I've never been one for lists, but that doesn't mean I haven't the drive to achive what I wish to. I'm sure you will, you seem to a really top guy.

  20. I'm not saying I don't take a risk, rather I don't need to achive something by a set time, I'll get there, just in my own way. Thanks for taking the time to comment, Stephanie.
