Loft Trading

We haven't set a date for the big day yet but I've started to think about what I might wear. I'm not into dress codes and I'm certainly not making anyone wear a daft morning suit, what year are we in? Don't get me started with a romantic "first dance", I was more thinking Chuck Berry. The last thing I want is for myself and others to feel uncomfortable on my wedding day so screw traditions.

I've got the shoes sorted, I managed to pick up some Grenson's Sid Brogues from their factory in Northampton last week. I travelled down with Togs + Clogs and a videographer from Hypebeast to shoot a film for the collaboration we've been working on for AW13. I took plenty of photos and I will post them shortly. So next it's the suit and all the rest that comes with it. For "the rest" bit I don't think I can go far from with Loft Trading. Loft's debut collection consists of neckties, pocket squares, bandanas and scarfs; all handmade in Belfast, Northern Ireland in a range of madras plaids and lightweight chambray cottons.

Each piece is individually numbered and made using a range of deadstock fabrics, no two are the same and each run is made in very small quantities. As a rule I don't like to match too much, I think a mixture of the York Street tie and the Exchange Place pocket square would work a treat.

  2. Ha! I'm not a fan of tradition when it comes to weddings either. I'm sure whatever you guys come up with will be perfect

  3. o....m...g!!!! love these options. You're onto a winner. I have to agree with the first dance thing. I don't know how "into it" I am either. but Krystal's right, it is fun

  5. I agree with Krystal, better to see how Hollie feels too.

But yeah I definitely agree you should only 'obey' the traditions you actually like the idea of, otherwise what's the point?

My sister's wedding was in April and it was (honestly) the most beautiful thing I've ever seen just because it was sooooo relaxed and didn't conform to any of the usual stiff traditions!

  6. I agree, screw traditions.... However she might want to do the first dance to someone other than Chuck Berry (although that's a cool idea). The Loft pieces are freaking amazing!!!!!! You will be one sharp dressed groom!

I wouldn't want a first dance - I'd rather everyone dance together! It just looks very awkward to me, even though it's supposed to be romantic and all that!

Those shoes are looking pretty swanky! You're right about the York Street tie and Exchange bandana place mixture working well!

I agree with everyone having some sort of hoarding quality in them. Those folks who can limit themselves to so little items are brave, I admire them in a way. I've sorted a lot of it out today, my wardrobe already feels better. Finding stuff with tags was a bit shameless as I have no intention of wearing them etc... deary me

Oh my, you must be excited though :)
I think it's nice how you are trying to be relaxed about it even though it's a big day, I think it shouldn't be all about stress and running all over the place but it can be a fun and relaxing experience!

  11. I feel you man, No need to get all super dressed up and nice. i don't feel that that is what weddings are about yet so many people feel it's mandatory or a crucial part.
I'm likin these products here. I tend to acquire ties very easily and my collection has grown yet I don't really have anything to wear them too. Nothing wrong with just throwing a tie on from time to time but not something I wanna do everyday. Those shoes you got there are pretty nice. I think they suit you very well. Do you plan on wearing a casual suit? Or a nice blazer and chino combo? Or neither?

Cool about the collab! Are you going to be in the film?

    Sounds good man, it's matthew.hoss.ccte@gmail.com

Pretty cool man, I saw a similar looking tie to one of the ones in the pictures on at

TiesNSuch at a decent price but still don't even have a good enough suit to wear it with, I'm not very old so I don't really have the money to be buying flashy suits but one day I would like to have a good collection, keep up the great work though man your blog is awesome
