Advertising - NTF Vast's Driving Ads

I think these ads by NTF Vast really do hit a nerve. Created for the Swedish National Society for Road Safety, they struck a chord with me, on another level to maybe what they may usually do. I've been learning to drive for about a month now and I've had my head stuck in the highway code in between some freelance design work.

This campaign reaches out using modern technology mixed with hard hitting data, to inform the audience just how dangerous being on the phone while driving is. I don't usually go down the serious route on here but with Christmas coming things like this couldn't be more important. Drive safely people.

Also, stay turned for my second Christmas run-up giveaway this week.

  1. Im glad you posted this! Three years ago I was coming home from having dinner with some friends, and I had a one month old Emma in the back seat, and I got rear ended by a drunk driver. I am so, so grateful that Emma wasnt hurt, because I probably would have gone to jail for beating the hell out of the woman that hit us. Anyway, I ended up having surgery and months of therapy, and I now have a nasty scar on my wrist from it. I wish more people would think before they go out to drink about how they'll get home.

  2. I'm glad you posted this, too many people don't take notice of how dangerous phones and driving + drinking and driving are.

  3. Oh wow that is a good advert. The bottle shape of the text bubble niggles me slightly though... Good luck with the driving! I didn't read the highway code, just did the online practice tests over & over, because they're real questions. Oh & I would say don't tell anyone before your driving test. For me it was a bad omen.

  4. Yeee, not good. Totally not something I'd ever think of. Texting while driving is so blatantly a bad idea. I've also seen people cycling while texting too... also can't be a good idea. Excellent reminder Mat. xx

  5. Clever campaign... Reminds me of one i saw in New Zealand last year.

We were driving along a very long wide road (very tempting to speed) and we started seeing crosses and coffins propped up on the side of the road for miles, then followed by signs saying things like 'Wanna die? Dont drink and drive' and 'You speed We die'.

It really shocked me, the wording and the abrupt manner in which it was displayed really did hit a nerve, i certainly slowed down! Great marketing.
