Orlando's Slower Pace

poolside flatlay in orlando with ballast point ipa, contrarian magazine, moscot glasses and birkenstock sandals

Oh boy, it seems like forever since I've tapped some words out on here. My bad, this past two months have been some of the busiest and most rewarding of my life. I have a whole list of content that I can't wait to share, but for the next ten day we will be enjoying some down time.

So here's my super "gone fishing" message - we're currently soaking up some overly-humid rays in Orlando, celebrating our 1st wedding anniversary, with day trips to Tampa, St Petersburg, Naples and Winter Park.

Head over to my Instagram page for daily updates!

Las Vegas Wedding Preview, at The Neon Museum

Photography by Caleb John Hill of Branch & Cole at The Neon Museum, Las Vegas, Nevada

We've officially been married for one month, as of the end of July! It's fair to say that the wedding day was one of the most surreal, emotional and happiest days of my life, and for our friends + family to travel across to world to share the experience with us was an incredible feeling.

I've got so much I want to share from our wedding + post-wedding road trip; from dozens of Instax snaps of the party and videos of Elvis giving it his best leg jives in Vegas, to more subdued times exploring natural beauties like Half Dome, and sinking endless IPAs down in Monterey...

I know some of you guys caught my Instagram Stories from Death Valley, Yosemite, San Fran + beyond - your feedback was amazing and we had a blast documenting it, we're just sorry it was ver in a flasg. Thanks so much for all the kind comments!

But for now I'm excited to share a handful of preview photos from our pre-wedding shoot with Caleb John Hill of Branch & Cole, taken at The Neon Museum, Las Vegas, Nevada! We were lucky enough to spent a good few days getting to know our photographers; a 5:30am start down at the museum totally worth it for that absolutely perfect location to seeing them dancing with our f+fs in the early hours of our wedding day. We raise a PBR to all the folks involved!

Can't wait to share more with you soon.

We're just back from three weeks in America; 14 days spent around Florida, and eight days taking in the sights, sounds and smells of Las Vegas. I've got a bunch of good stuff to share from our trip, but the main reason why were we're in Vegas was to plan our wedding! That's right, some of you may know that myself and Hollie have been engaged for a couple of years, and soon we'll be setting a date!

So, come summer 2017 we'll be heading back to Las Vegas, with our friends and family, to get it done. I'm looking forward to sharing updates of our progress, which will hopefully bring a nice personal touch back to the blog. So first off, I need to get serious about sorting out a wedding suit, but where on earth do I start...?

Enjoying Kona Brewing Co. in Orlando

Very much enjoying Kona Brewing Co. this week. In fact, they're just what we look for in a good beer; variation, distinct flavours, colourful labels and an honest back story. We've been working our way through their range since we arrived in Orlando, and we even tried Kona beer battered fish + chips at the Tommy Bahamas restaurant, on our stay-over in Naples!

Have you tried any of Kona's beers? My personal favourite is Big Wave - it's big time! Aloha `oe.

Keep up-to-day with our travels on Instagram + Twitter!

We're Currently in Florida!

It's been a little quiet around these parts lately, I forgot to mention that we're currently out in Orlando for a few weeks on holiday! Things will be a little slow around here but we will be posting a few posts here and there - when we can pull ourselves away from a frosty 4-pack.

We're still sharing on the social scene, you can follow our holiday updates on Instagram + Twitter!

Thanks for sticking with us,
Mat.

Travel Photography, Iceland by Bernd Vogel

Travel is at the front of my mind this year and I don’t seem to be alone. While writing about my recent trip skiing in France and tweeting about our more recent jaunt to Brighton, everyone who replied mentioned places they’re keen to go or plans they’re about to make. And all that does is makes me want of travel some more!

It’s the quiet times that get you too. On a rare Friday night spent at home, I sat on the sofa reading up on some travel blogs and searching through Instagram for destination inspiration. It didn’t take long until I ‘stumbled’ across Iceland. It’s a place I’ve always wanted to visit, so I think my mind led me in that direction anyway.

Iceland is one of those countries that’s full of mystery, intrigue, and excitement. The rugged, almost alien landscape, looks like something imagined in a dream. Some of the buildings in the towns and cities aren’t far behind either. And when you see photos like these from Bernd Vogel's recent trip - boy does that make you want to get plans moving and book a package holiday. Iceland is also a place that I can’t find a single bad word about. Come on, the realities of travel are that not everyone is going to have a great time, each and every time - sometimes you just have bad luck! But no, not in Iceland. Every word written is a plus point and every photo (with a person in it) has someone smiling.

With my winter wear freshly laundered since the Alpine expedition, I think it’s time to load that suitcase up and start thinking about a trip to see our friends in the North. Have you been to Iceland, and what's next on your travel list?
