Jocks&Nerds x Shinola | Community of Craft Pop-Up Series

Jocks&Nerds continue their exploration into Shinola's Community of Crafts project with a brand new addition to the ongoing series, a temporary space to showcase local crafts in the heart of Soho, London. This week sees the launch Shinola's next part of their look at local and global crafts in the 21st century, with their very first functioning workshop space, located within their UK flagship store on Newburgh Street.

We visited the newly opened store back in January, which gave us a heavy fix of Americana, whilst also reinforced to us us why this particular part of Soho is turning into one of our favourite shopping designations in London.

First up in Jocks&Nerds + Shinola's exploration of craft sees London-based Creative + Designer Nigel Ruwende, of Saint & Birchley, kick off this monthly series of in-store events. Ruwende will be setting up in the Shinola store for three days, showing the public how he creates bespoke workwear aprons for his brand Saint & Birchley, as well as sharing is knowledge and passion for his craft.

After working as a stylist for five years, Ruwende took an increasing interest in how garments were designed constructed, which led to this nature progression into product design. The Community of Craft series is a great opportunity for our local craftspeople to be given exposure with a global reach.

The first part of this Community of Craft monthly Pop-Up series is running at the Shinola, Soho store from 9-12th April. Pop down to the store to see how Saint & Birchley's products are designed and created, with also see Shinola's full Made in USA collection. Shinola - 13 Newburgh Street, London, W1F 7RS.

  2. This is a really cool initiative. It's a great way to see how things are done from up close. Are there many other in-store events planned?
