Well Camp

I hear the price of these things has skyrocketed over the past few years, lately I keep seeing more and more of them. Either people are doing them up or there's some pretty lavish people in my area. I nearly got hit by one when I was cycling the other day, probably my fault for staring at it too long. I guess it wouldn't be the worse way to go, out with a v-dubs bang, literally.

  1. Hehe I love the title! I love VW Campers but they're blummin' expensive, they do look ridiculously lovely though, I see why you almost got run over staring at one. I did a very similar thing last year but I was staring at a tractor and nearly crashed my car, luckily my passenger was not so besotted by the tractor and grabbed the wheel, think I'd prefer to go out via the VW if I had the choice :)

  2. I read that as "I got hit by one" and was a bit worried over how chill you were about it haha! Those are cute, I don't see many round here though.

  3. I would love to own one of these, I hope the price starts coming down (or I've won the lottery) by the time I can drive!

  4. There are a lot of companies now restoring them and then renting them out. My sister and her husband did it a couple of years back and travelled around Ireland in one. So cool! That might explain why you're seeing more of them.

  5. haha that's pretty funny.
This one looks nice! I haven't seen one with a spare cover like that. It looks good. They had so many different models of these vans. I'm sure some aren't worth as much as others and that could be the reason being the rise of so many. Over here I see a fair amount of ones sitting in driveways waiting to be worked on. Not so many on the road but on the internet here locally I see both good and bad for sale. About $13,000 for a very nice and restored one. Only bad thing is I hear these aren't the most reliable. But I think it was last year someone drove one in the Gumball 3000. Not to sure if it made all 3000 miles but if it did then I'd have to say they're pretty reliable then.

Thanks for stopping by and congratulating me. I appreciate it. Things should pick up with it in June when my Brother gets back from a trip to Argentina.

  6. A friend of ours bought one a few years ago and has done it up. So well in fact, that it has found itself appearing on magazine covers. I think they are marvellous!

  7. How can one not love them - they look so homely! But no car is chic enough to knock you off your bike!
