Gem Fletcher's Sports Shadow

Here's a nice pick-up from all the muted colours from the last couple of posts, I guess that's Winter for you. These Sports Shadow stills by art director Gem Fletcher are one of my favourite web finds from the past few weeks. Along with photographer Kelvin Murray, Fletcher produced this set of stunning stills using a different sports discipline for each image. Each shot is paired up with a vibrant coloured background and powerful lighting, which creates a shadow unique to the subject. Really effective results, wouldn't you agree?

Looking at these takes me back to my uni days; coming up with concepts, planning shoots, sourcing props, faffing about with angles for hours. I miss it you know, I just need to use some of those skills I learnt and transfer them into the real world.

  3. These are great, I really like the colors and most definitely the tennis photo. As well as what Ashley asked, what did you study?

You know not to sure what exactly is going on in the space photo I posted. I was just really drawn to it by the cleanness of it and the pop of the primary colors.

Glad to hear the progress on the products! Again, once I can land myself some extra chas I'll gladly buy one.

I haven't bought any new jeans actually. I don't know if I told you or not but a while back I was trying on some commuter jeans and was pretty impressed by them. They were on a mega sale coming out to $35
or so I think. I ended up buying them but a few days later the decision was made that I'd be moving back to Texas so I really no longer had the need to have the pants anymore. So in the end I ended up taking them back. When I get back to Colorado I'll purchase a pair or two again though that's for sure! Only complaint about them was the skinniness of the leg. Now I know they aren't supposed to be super tight but that's how I like my pants. None the less I'll be taking them to my sewing machine when I get a pair.

Well I can say i've been a tad bit disappointed in myself since being back home. I have pretty much all the time in the world and I haven't been devoting as much as I should have towards the company. Don't get me wrong, I've definitely been putting in work but just not as much as I should have. Things are getting better though as I've been working on it everyday and it has came a long way just after about a weeks worth of work. We're about close to the last sample run, fingers crossed we'll only need to do one more run. I'll probably be posting some photos of the latest sample soon I hope. My brother has been putting in some work for it too up in Colorado getting some shops lined up to carry the products. He's also been working on some bags for the company as well.
Feels good to be back home though, enjoying the time with my girlfriend and pretty much just doing whatever I want. Luckily my money has completely depleted yet.

No problem on the support, I feel like I've seen your blog grow quite a bit since I first stumbled upon it. I appreciate you always taking time to comment back and leaving detailed and generous comments. I enjoy these convos we have. So no worries on the delays in commenting back. We're all busy with our own things.

Lately i've been wanting to take a trip to florida. Maybe I can when it comes time to expand the company line. Seems like a nice place if you're in the right area. There's always quite a bit of national news here on florida which is never anything good. I'll leave it at though since I can't re call any of the stories really. Colorado has also made some negative news recently and a while back before. It's a shame but just gotta look past it all.

Funny you say quite the camera buff. I appreciate that although I would say I think I'm far from it. I don't know much about dslr cameras let alone digital cameras really. Although I recently picked up a sony dsc wx150 and it's amazing! The megapixel count is high and produces some clear detailed images. It aos has a lot of cool features on it such as a toy or miniature camera effect. It also has a very reasonable price and I find it on sales quite often at many places. I just can't seem to take the time to learn about cameras and all. It's not that it doesn't interest me I just can't seem to stay focused on it. Just have my head mainly focused on making shoes.
