10 Favourite Things

The other day I was given an award by Clare from Tweet, whose blog is getting a bit good now eh? To get to know each other a bit better I will share 10 of my favourite(right now, we all know things change from time to time).

1. Favourite Set Design/Illustrator/Stylist

Gary Card. This guy has such a body of work, regularlly contributing to Dazed&Confused, AnOher Man and designed for Uniqlo, Matches and Dover Street Market to name a few.

2.Favourite Shoes

The soon to be released Oliver Spencer for Topman Collection and more specifically, this navy blue suede with brick red sole. They are set for release on 10th May, I'll be online waiting.

3.Favourite Artist

Anyone that has been reading my blog for some time will know I've been pretty much obsessed with surrealism for quite a while. This all started when I visited the Salvador Dali Museum in St.Petersburg, Florida. I'm a bit crazy like that.

4.Favourite Band

My current music musing are mostly 90s and the Britpop era. Suede are doing it for me at the moment. This is mainly due to my girlfriend being so obsessed with music(and most importantly Brett Anderson, the lead singer). They are doing great things for Teenage Cancer Trust.

5. Favourite Style Blog (Non-UK)

The lads over the pond really know what style is, and no more do that Street Etiquette. I've been a follower of their ever evolving "Street Dandy"style for some time and no they are getting much earned exposure.

5.1 Favourite Style Blog (UK)

Style Salvage. This is menswear blogging at its best, I've been reading Style Salvage for many moons now and their constant updates into brands, reviews of shops, introducing new brands and uber cool satirical purchases make me green with envy. (This image is from their recent trip to the Dr Martens factory)

6. Favourite Other

It is safe to say I am totally obsessed with the solar system. It's just amazing how far we have come in 60 years of space travel. I hope everyone is watching Wonders Of The Solar System on BBC2, Sunday's at 9pm. With Prof Brian Cox.

7. Favourite Designer

Stefano Pilati at YSL. He sure knows how to dress a man.

8. Favourite Place

Orlando, Florida. I have been lucky enough to go to Orlando twice in the past 4 years, where we have stayed at my girlfriend's parents villa(not the picture above, I wish. That's a cinema near by).

9. Favourite Furniture Piece

Over the past few months I have really got into interior design, when I finally get my own place I would love to start designing my own pieces. There is so much inspiration out there, my favouite piece right now is this green chair by Adessin. "For out of season sunbathing".

10. Favourite Girl Shape

Me and my girlfriend Hollie have been together now for just over 4 years. Geez, how has she put up with me for so long? Check out her blog Lipstickk, it's all the blend of music and fashion.

So there we have it, if anyone wants to find out anything else about me, just throw your questions in the comment box and I'll be sure to swing by your blogs and answer them the best I can.

Multi-Colour Mood

Lovely Lady by Street Style Aesthetic

I'm feeling like a bit of a mixed bag right now and multi-coloured is the only way I can sum it up. I don't really do much in the way of outfit post on the blog but I am going to try and post more, as I have started to do over the past month or so. So you will see!

Hope everyone's having a nice weekend, what have you all been up to? Is everyone set for Easter? Mine has been filled with harsh winds(living by the seaside does have its disadvantages), pizza and driving nowhere.

In other news me and Clare from Tweet will be running a small stall at the Vintage Threads Weekender in Manchester on 2nd April at the Triangle Centre. So if anyone is in the area feel free to come down and amuse us (and bring us nice cakes!). The event is on for 2 days and is spread over 3 floors of the shopping centre, selling all things vintage; clothing, homeware, haberdasher, bikes, yummy food and there's also an alterations service and bands playing.

Come say "hi".

I REALLY Want To Ride My Bicycle

Yes Please! by Brick Lane Bikes
Fixed Gear by 14 Bike Co
Hip Flask by Run Tweed
1950s Raleigh Poster
Stylish cycling by Jak & Jil

I really want a bike, the problem is, I don't really have anywhere to ride it. I don't fancy riding 100 to work every day. Until I live somewhere a bit more cosmopolitan I will just have to make to with strolling around bicycle shops and browsing images online. Is there a chicer way to travel around the city?

On the other hand, if anyone knows of any good bicycle shops in the Manchester area please let me know.

VNFOLD Magazine Issue #2

This editorial features in the current issue of online magazine VNFOLD. This mag is new to me, has anyone else heard or know much about it? All I know about it is a like it and these images has been added to my bulging image folder(I should really make separate folders for different subject, but hey, I'm messy).

Oh in other news I recently received an award by Clare from Tweet...

The rules....
1. Pass it on to 6 others.
2. Let them know so they can post the same.

And I'm adding a rule...

3. Name 5 things that are ace at the moment.

So I choose....

Ok so 5 things that are ace at the moment are:

Britpop(more specifically, Blur, Suede, Supergrass)
Elbow patches
Wonders Of The Solar System on BBC2
Art And Text (Book)
Extras (Ricky Gervais and Steve Merchant comedy)

New Found Treasures Part 3

The Brogues

Well we're now on part 3 of my new found treasures. This is where I have been showing things I have bought over the past few months and it's about time I blogged about these babies. I picked up these dark brown(with a slight red tint) Loake brogues up when I was staying in Brighton, in January. I couldn't have been more chuffed when I spotted these in a vintage shop, I was even more surprised when the price tag said £38. That's quite a bargain for shoes that could last years right?

I tried them on and strutted up and down for about 10 minutes before handing over the readies, I had to make sure they were perfect. And they were.

I don't really know much about the actual style but the are similar to this seasons R432 style.

I'm wearing them here with Topman Design trousers and bright orange Uniqlo socks. I haven't worn these trousers much since I bought them about 3 years ago but now they have the perfect partner. The fit of the trousers makes me feel very mod, I might wear them to a gig I'm going to on Sunday night.

How's everyone's weekend going?

Diesel Ads 2010

They certainly know what they're doing when it comes to hook lines in campaigns. I propose I would be good at this and for Diesel to offer me a job. Just like Chandler Bing does on that Friends episode where he has to sell the roller skates.

I have a lot of silly thoughts but nowhere near as much as Karl Pilkington does. I suggest everyone should download the Ricky Gervais' Guide To....  podcast series. You won't be disappointed.

I came across Nicholas Hughes' work while I was visiting the V&A in London. I was totally taken back by his work. The man certainly has an eye for capturing somewhat whimsical settings, with the landscapes possessing certain magical qualities. All the images were taken around Britain, Switzerland and Germany, and have been described by Bill Kouwenhoven as "a luminosity of light that is life itself : spiritual , fragile, and sublime.”

I've been staring at his imagery for about an hour now, his work is not only beautifully shot but to me they are just so relaxing and calming. I am now officially de-stressed.

Visit Nicholas Hughes' website to see more of his work.

Zoo Times

There's lots of places that I seem to overlook in my home town, the local zoo is one of them. I think I have only visited there once in my life, so and my mate Jamesy decided to take a trip there. I can't believe this place is a 10 minute walk from my house and I never go. It was so much better than I was expecting too.

There's tones of excellent animals there, (other than the ones I took pictures of) like tigers, lions, penguins, camels, reindeers, giraffes, elephants, red pandas and all sorts of fish and creepy crawlies. I didn't seem to take many pictures, mainly because I was more interested in looking and them and seeing how they acted that flipping the lens out.

Next on places that get overlooked in my town, The Pleasure Beach maybe?! Check out Blackpool Zoo if you're ever in the area.

What places do you overlook, which are right on your doorstep?

Vogue Homme Japan #4

Pretty excellent use of random props as accessories, 10 out of 10 for improvisation. I can see lamps, tapedecks, plastic bottles, wire casing, twigs, cans, chains, mesh, cassettes and plugs. Have I missed anything?

Also, is the flat top a la Fresh Prince of Belle Air 93' making reappearance?? I sure how so, I always wanted one as a youngster. You can call this a comeback.

Photo1

I stole the Polaroid idea from Lipstickkk. You won't find many serious photos of me, it's my "damn, the tailor's was shut" look. I rarely get moody, honest.

I'm wearing my new biker jacket too, pretty chuffed with it.
