The shots look really awkward. You would think they would appear natural given that they are married but they both look really strained and uncomfortable.
It's bad and I know I shouldn't, but I like them.. it's a simple, tacky sex + fame sells strategy, and within that context I think it's ok to like them in a semi-ironic way. Giorgio Armani is a very clever businessman as well as a designer.. he knows exactly what he's doing, but I'm sure he also sees the quite funny/ironic side of these ads..
Not making much sense there.. meant to say I don't like them in the same way I like a striking editorial or vintage pic, but I just think they're so funny (the forced America's Next Top Model-esque poses, the sock stuffed down Becks' briefs, the fact they probably had to airbrush weight ON to VB) and so unashamed (and also so successful at shifting pants) you can't help but like 'em..
I just can't take them seriously. And yeah, I think they've strived for "innovative" with her rather phallic hair but it's all a little forced...

ReplyDeletewell they will 100% shift the pants, your very right. i'm sure they will be flying off the shelves, and so will socks...
ReplyDeleteI agree with Hapsical in the sense that they're funny and likeable in a semi-ironic way. still, I don't think I'll be a big fan anytime soon.
